It appeared as follows: Book publication "One Thing Needful" first appeared in book form in the UK in November 1902 in A Volunteer Haversack: Containing Contributions of Certain Writers to the Queen's Rifle Volunteer Brigade: The Royal Scots. Although the publisher is not listed, the publication page of this book states that it was Printed for the Brigade, Edinburgh. In 1905 it appeared in The Queen's Christmas Carol, Daily Mail, London, under the title "The One Thing Needful." First edition book cover
