"The Castle of the King" was published 1881 in Stoker's first collection of short stories Under the Sunset. In 1982 it appeared in Shades of Dracula: Uncollected Stories of Bram Stoker edited by Peter Haining and in 1997 it appeared in Best Ghost and Horror Stories edited by Richard Dalby, Stefan Dziemianowicz and S. T. Joshi.
