"The Burial of the Rats" was first published in book form in 1914 in Stoker's third collection of short stories Dracula's Guest And Other Weird Stories. In 1973 it appeared in The Bram Stoker Bedside Companion edited by Charles Osborne and in 1997 it appeared in Best Ghost and Horror Stories edited by Richard Dalby, Stefan Dziemianowicz and S. T. Joshi.
Periodical publication "The Burial of the Rats" was first published in the January 26, 1896 and February 2, 1896 issues of Lloyd's Weekly Newspaper (London) and the Boston Herald (Boston). It was also published in the September 1928 issue of the magazine Weird Tales (Chicago) and in the October 1946 issue of the magazine Famous Fantastic Mysteries (New York).
